AMERTHA VILLA

A Contemporary Tropical Sanctuary in Bali

  • Location: Kemenuh, Bali – Indonesia
  • Area: 392 m²
  • Year: 2024

Amerta Villa represents DAD Architects’ continuous exploration of tropical modern design — merging architectural clarity, functionality, and emotional warmth into a harmonious living experience.

Set within Bali’s natural landscape, this villa is designed as a serene private retreat that celebrates natural light, ventilation, and spatial flow. The name “Amerta”, meaning “eternal” in Sanskrit, reflects the villa’s timeless relationship between architecture and nature.

SITE CONTEXT

The project is located in a lush tropical area of Bali, surrounded by vegetation and open views.
The site’s orientation and contours informed the layout, ensuring that each villa volume captures natural daylight, cross ventilation, and unobstructed views of the surrounding greenery.

The design minimizes building footprint while enhancing the sense of openness — creating spaces that feel grounded yet expansive.

DESIGN CONCEPT

The concept of Amerta Villa is built around “Tropical Continuity” — where architecture flows seamlessly with nature, and every space feels connected through air, light, and material.

Design highlights include:

  • Open spatial connections between indoor and outdoor living,
  • Layered façade composition for shading and privacy,
  • Natural material palette reflecting Balinese craftsmanship.

The villa’s architectural expression balances modern geometry with the softness of tropical textures — creating an environment that is sophisticated yet relaxed.

SPATIAL PROGRAMING

The villa is composed of functional and emotional zones, arranged for comfort and privacy:

  • Living and dining areas open directly toward the swimming pool and garden,
  • Master bedroom positioned for both seclusion and scenic views,
  • Secondary bedrooms and bathrooms designed with equal attention to spatial proportion and material atmosphere,
  • Outdoor decks and semi-open corridors connecting spaces through light and shadow play.

Every zone is designed to enhance a slow, immersive experience of tropical living.

ARCHITECTURAL & MATERIAL APPROACH

Amerta Villa celebrates natural honesty in its material selection:

  • Exposed concrete and soft-toned stone create a calm, minimal foundation,
  • Wooden details add warmth and tactile comfort,
  • Large glass openings dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior,
  • Green pockets and water reflections animate the architectural composition.

This natural palette ensures visual harmony with the site while maintaining durability in Bali’s humid climate.

INTERIOR AMBIENCE

Inside, Amerta Villa translates tropical living into a sensory experience.
Soft daylight fills the living and bedroom areas, filtering through crafted screens and natural textures.
The master bedroom features an intimate connection to the landscape, while the bathroom integrates stone, wood, and soft reflections to evoke a resort-like tranquility.

The overall ambience emphasizes simplicity — where luxury is defined by space, air, and atmosphere rather than ornament.

Amerta Villa embodies DAD Architects’ belief that architecture should be timeless, calm, and human-centered.
It is not only a space to live, but a place to breathe — to reconnect with oneself and the surrounding nature.

“True tropical design is not about style — it’s about creating harmony between people, architecture, and the environment.”
