PJ TWIN VILLA

Refined Tropical Modern Living by DAD Architects

  • Location: Ubud, Bali – Indonesia
  • Area: 500 m²
  • Year: 2025

PJ Twin Villa marks the evolution of DAD Architects’ earlier concept into a more refined and emotionally resonant tropical residence.
Located in Bali, this stage emphasizes spatial experience, light, and atmosphere, translating tropical living into a contemporary architectural expression.

Every corner of the villa has been carefully reconsidered — from the entrance and pool arrangement to interior finishes and detailing — resulting in a design that feels calm, cohesive, and timeless.

SITE & DESIGN CONTEXT

Situated within a tropical setting, PJ Villa Stage 2 continues to embrace natural ventilation, filtered sunlight, and visual connectivity with the surrounding greenery.
The design refines the villa’s relationship to the site, introducing layered façades, deeper eaves, and strategic openings that enhance both comfort and privacy.

DESIGN EVOLUTION

he core concept — “Tropical Tranquility” — remains central, but the Stage 2 iteration adds depth and balance through proportion, material texture, and lighting composition.

Key updates include:

  • Reoriented openings to improve natural airflow,
  • Enhanced indoor-outdoor transition in the living & kitchen areas,
  • Refined lighting design for warmth and visual contrast,
  • Integration of subtle stone and wood detailing throughout.

The result is a villa that feels more intimate, structured, and emotionally grounded.

SPATIAL COMPOSITION

The villa maintains its two-level layout, balancing functionality and openness across different zones:

  • Ground Floor: Entrance, garage, living room, dining area, powder room, and pool terrace.
  • First Floor: Master suite with walk-in closet and bath, private work area, and two additional bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.

Each space offers a unique view toward the garden or pool, ensuring that nature remains an integral part of the living experience.

MATERIAL & FINISHES

Explores a mature material palette that highlights both modern precision and tropical warmth:

  • Textured stone and exposed concrete for permanence and structure,
  • Timber surfaces for warmth and tactile comfort,
  • Large glass panels for visual fluidity and daylight penetration.

Lighting plays a key role — accenting architectural details and creating mood transitions from day to night.

INTERIOR EXPERIENCE

Inside PJ Villa, every room is designed for comfort, simplicity, and sensory depth.
The living and dining areas open toward the pool, allowing a continuous breeze and view to flow through.
The master suite offers a tranquil retreat with soft lighting, muted tones, and natural materials that convey quiet luxury.
Bathrooms combine stone, glass, and wood — evoking the atmosphere of a private spa.

The workspace introduces a thoughtful element of balance, bridging work and leisure within the tropical context.

PJ Twin Villa is the culmination of DAD Architects’ ongoing exploration of tropical modernism — refined, functional, and deeply connected to its surroundings.
It captures the essence of quiet sophistication — where every detail, shadow, and reflection contributes to a sense of balance and well-being.

“Good design is not about adding complexity, but revealing clarity — a harmony between life, space, and nature.”
